Thanks to those of you who helped us achieve the Pay Day Challenge by raising $45K by last Friday.

It was a fun celebration — Mr. Incredible and Super Girl skated around the school to congratulate all the students.

Special congrats to Ms. Cordova's class (now in the #1 position) as well as Levinson, Evans, Horner and McClellan for achieving their class goals. Several other classes are really close!

Although it's so exciting to watch the numbers climb, we still need to raise $16,300 to reach our goal of $65,000, and this is our LAST WEEK. The deadline for the Education Enrichment Campaign is this Friday, September 11th, and so far only 225 out of 680 (44%) of our students have donated or received donations from family or friends.

We really need every family to participate in order to do everything we need to do for our students and teachers. Any amount will help! To contribute, please send in cash or checks via your child's folder or give online using the Team Raise Easy website: http://eastvalley2015.teamraiseeasy.com (Then select your student's teacher from the drop-down list on the left.)

Please forward the link to any family, friends, or neighbors that would be willing to support Eastvalley. Many students have reached the Gold or Platinum level by gathering contributions from friends and family. We have over 15 students who have collected more than 8 donations each. When making a donation online, please note that your child's name does not need to be on the list of individuals. Simply type their name in the Dedication section at the bottom of the donation page in the "on behalf of" field.

The EEC supports many programs that benefit all students at Eastvalley.

  • For more information, click here. And watch our student video here
  • To donate online, click here.
  • To donate via check, send an your check in an envelope in your child's folder. Make the check payable to the Eastvalley Foundation. On the envelope, write "EEC," plus your child's name, teacher's name & grade level.

Thank you for supporting an enriched learning environment for our kids!

Students in classes that reached their classroom goal voted for their special treat: bubble day or ice cream & extra recess!

September 8, 2015

 Dear Eastvalley Parents,

Eastvalley Elementary’s first month of school was fantastic! It is going to be a great 2015-2016 school year.

As you know, your child’s daily attendance in school is critical to his/her academic success. It is very important for your child to arrive at Eastvalley by 7:50am, which is the start of the instructional day, and stay until the 2:20pm dismissal bell. I am writing to you today to share significant changes to our attendance practices/procedures.

Every school in the State of Georgia receives an annual school rating called the College and Career Readiness Index (CCRPI). There are many factors that contribute to Eastvalley’s CCRPI score and attendance will now be a key component to calculating the CCRPI score. Beginning this school year, all student absences over 5 will have a negative impact on our overall CCRPI score and decrease the score. This means that all absences, regardless of excused or unexcused, will be closely monitored so Eastvalley can be proactive to limit the number of students who have 6 or more absences. Eastvalley Elementary is a wonderful school and we are doing our best to increase our CCRPI score and we do not want attendance to decrease the score.

Now, please let me clarify this new information. Some absences are unavoidable and even necessary at times. This includes celebrating religious holidays, experiencing a death in the family, surgery, vomiting, and fever. Please do not send your sick child to Eastvalley! We do not want students who may be contagious at school who could possibly spread germs and cause other children to get sick. However, if your child has a minor ailment, please send him/her to school. In addition, we ask that you make every effort to schedule family vacations during Cobb County School District holidays and schedule your child’s doctor’s appointments after school.

All of these efforts will improve Eastvalley’s attendance, increase our CCRPI score, and benefit your child academically. Eastvalley will continue to educate our school community about how our students’ attendance performance impacts our CCRPI score. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at Kendall.Foster@cobbk12.org or 770-578-7214.

Sincerely,

Kendall Foster

Principal
